Short Story

Dear Friends and Compassionate Supporters,

Dear Friends and Animal Lovers,

I am reaching out with a heartfelt request regarding our dog Ares. He’s our best friend and an integral part of our family, and we recently went through a scary and unexpected accident that left him injured and in need of urgent veterinary care.

Last Saturday, during our evening walk, we took Ares to a nearby dog park to let him run free and play with other doggy friends. When I released him, he excitedly sprinted off, but the wet grass and hidden holes caused him to slip and crash into a smaller inner fence surrounding a sculpture. The impact was severe—Ares hit the fence with his chest and head and was thrown over it. He ended up with a deep cut on his face, couldn’t step on his front leg, and was in visible pain, screaming and confused.

With no open vets nearby, we called a pet taxi to rush him to the nearest 24/7 Emergency Vet. There, Ares first received sedation, then a full examination, anaesthesia, wound cleaning, stitches, antibiotics, and painkillers. He’s recovering now, but he still needs follow-up care in about a week to remove the stitches and ensure everything is healing properly.

The vet bills, combined with the pet taxi, are currently at about 560€, and additional costs are expected. As a student, covering such unexpected expenses during the holiday season has been incredibly challenging.

This is why I’m turning to the kindness of friends, family, and animal lovers for support. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering Ares’s medical expenses. If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with others would also mean the world to us.

Thank you for taking the time to read Ares’s bloody adventure and for any support you can provide. <3 Forever grateful. Further, we are reaching out to our district municipality to try to get the dangerous fence in the middle of a run-free dog park removed and try to prevent similar accidents from occurring.

With gratitude
